It's a wonde...I am glad progress is being made! It's a wonderful effort.<br /><br />Growing up European has given me the advantage of being able to travel more easily to other countries and connect with other cultures. I was lucky to be born with a travel gene and as an adult I have spent many years living in different foreign countries in Asia and Africa. It has enriched my life immeasurably.<br /><br />There is no doubt that if American kids have a chance of experiencing a gap year as is so common an experience for kids in other western countries, it would make a huge difference in their understanding of the world, and perhaps offer them opportunities to do good. It would help them and other Americans get a better sense of what really goes on beyond the borders of the USA. TV doesn't give you a true picture.<br /><br />Sorry, I'm preaching to the choir here.
